Worcester Herbs

Throughout the ages cottage garden herbs such as Thyme, Peppermint, Rosemary and Feverfew have been cultivated for their culinary, cosmetic and medicinal properties.
Over the centuries many botanical works have been published. During the seventeenth century specialist gardens were established at Universities across Europe for the cultivation and study of herbs and their remedies.
Botanical drawings of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries accurately recorded plant specimens and their classifications, whilst published books such as Curtis's Botanical, Maund's Botanical Garden and Flora Americae helped provide rich sources of material for contemporary designers of porcelain decoration.

Taking its inspiration from this meticulous and colourful style of illustration the Worcester Herbs design depicts attractive cottage garden herbs, each labeled in the traditional way with both their Latin and common names.
